In her work, Hemaseh becomes a storyteller. She uses vibrant fabrics with prints and textures to create a personal, symbolic visual language. Within it, stories of her family, childhood memories, and cherished traditions are closely interwoven.

Her textile works feel like poetic puzzles: fragmentary, intimate, and full of meaning. They form a bridge between the West, where she lives, and the Middle East, where her roots lie. Through her playful way of narrating and visualizing, she makes personal situations both relatable and universal.

In her visual language, emotions and experiences become tangible. The images read like diary fragments, sometimes direct, sometimes hidden beneath layers of decoration and symbolism.

With a sharp eye for textiles, colour, and print, she reflects on the world around her, on its beauty, but also on its discomforts. She explores the boundary between art and craft, between refinement and excess. In everyday rituals such as sharing tea or crafting by hand, she sees a form of communication that transcends language and background.
The title Comes As No Surprise refers to this layered nature. It resonates with emotions and situations that, once seen, seem to have always been present. Nothing truly comes as a surprise and yet, each work invites you to look again, to read, and to feel.
